February 24 2013

Bohemian Tassel Earrings: the tassels are tied with thread and additional beads and a hill tribe daisy imprint charm hang from a gold filled hoop which I hand formed and soldered and also hand formed ear wires which are also gold filled.

This is the 'Diana' Necklace which I named after Diana who lives in Dusseldorf- the necklace was originally made for her in green. The Diana necklace is long enough to wrap around your neck twice and still be very long, and can also be wrapped up to four times around the neck.
I made the original Diana and two other pieces for Anita and Reiner (they purchased the pieces for their three daughter in laws) who came to visit St. Charles sometime between fall and Christmas.

After getting some critique on etsy forum (my pictures were too blurry) I tried to start taking better pictures. The pictures have evolved greatly, I think. I was taking pictures outside, and some were blurry. It is good to take pictures outside, and some shadows are okay, and I feel they create interest. I have always loved the interplay of shadows with subjects in my still life paintings. However, in this picture I am just using diffuse light in my studio. Often, I have to watch the sun throughout the day in my studio and take pictures as the sun comes through one side of the studio or another at a given time. I still like to take some pictures outside, however. Learning how to take better pictures has become part of the creative process for me, and surprisingly, I enjoy this more than I ever have before.

Both of these pieces were created earlier than this date, however, I used the date of Feb. 24th as that is when I tried to re-shoot the pictures for them.
Additionally, this Diana necklace just sold recently on Etsy. :)
